Low voltage staffing for cabling, life safety and electronic security contractors

Advastar provides low voltage staffing for systems integrators, electrical contractors with a low voltage division, data center builders and facility owners. We place structured cabling installers and technicians, fire alarm technicians, access control and video surveillance specialists, AV integrators and the foremen, project managers and estimators who run the work.

Low voltage is its own labor market and it does not behave like line-voltage electrical. A journeyman electrician is not automatically a cabling technician, and a technician who terminates fiber all day is not automatically someone who can commission a fire alarm panel and sit through an AHJ acceptance test. The specializations are narrow, the certifications are vendor-specific and the people who hold the valuable combinations know exactly what they are worth. We qualify on what someone has actually installed and terminated, what test equipment they can operate and interpret and which manufacturer platforms they are certified on.

What hiring managers say about Advastar

  • Everyone promises cabling techs and then sends people who have pulled wire but never certified a link. Advastar actually asked candidates what test equipment they had used and what they did when a link failed, and it showed on site.

Curtis Nyland, Operations Manager, Systems Integrator
  • Working in occupied clinical space narrows the candidate pool a long way, and fire alarm acceptance testing with an AHJ is not something you learn on the job. The NICET III technicians they placed handled both without us having to supervise it.

Alicia Brannon, Facilities Director, Regional Hospital Network
  • We knew we wanted a low voltage division and had no idea what order to hire in. Their advice to put the estimator and project manager in place before any field staff was right, and it saved us bidding work we could not have delivered.

Dev Patel, President, Commercial Electrical Contractor
